"If music be the food of love, play on." - Shakespeare, Writer

When teens are going through physical, hormonal and emotional transitions they feel emotionally vulnerable and confused.

Parents can help their teens by being available on a consistent basis. Help them understand that they are not defined by their feelings and it’s all right to make mistakes because its how you learn. Being used hurts. Trusting your feelings about a boy is key to protecting yourself.

Self-esteem involves setting boundaries when it comes to safely exploring sexuality.

When a young person arrives at the conclusion that they “should have known better” it says they are growing up.

Emotional growth sometimes comes from pain which is a part of finding self-love. Separating  emotions from the logical thought process helps create a picture, a lasting impression that can be recalled whenever a red flag appears when meeting someone new.

Trusting yourself to make the right decisions the next time is the result. Emotions serve many purposes and should be listened to not avoided.

Love brings a feeling of elevated self-worth but being blind to the reality of why you feel this way can set you up for being hurt.

Finding true love isn't easy. Losing yourself in the process is hard when you deny the truth in exchange for the feeling. Don't let feelings define you. Discern neediness from a true connection.

It may be hard to believe but parents were young once. They faced the same teenage angst when dealing with sex, love, and where they fit in.

Talk to your parents.  Make them understand you by expressing your feelings and not shutting them out. They can tell when something is going on.  Building a wall around you to defend against being judged doesn't allow the people who love you help you.

Parents can help by guiding their teens and not dictating values they have so young people will arrive at the conclusion on their own which is a lesson they won’t forget. Creating and sustaining healthy Interpersonal relationships can be hard.  It's a trial and error process. Problems are solutions in the making. Open up and talk it out.  Your best friend might be living in the same house all the time.
